Lets talk… and look
ITS ALL ABOUT YOU
To get the best outcome for your artwork, the most important part of the process is for us to sit with you to talk about your needs and to offer our experience on how it might be best presented. With you by our side we will look at solutions including the frame style, shape size and colour, the sort of mounting you require and show you how it might look, your glazing option and finishes.
We will provide you with an estimate for the job and an indication of how long it will take to complete and, if we have to, make any special orders for stock. We carry a huge range of stock so normally we can satisfy most customers with what we hold, but if we don’t have it we’ll order it for you. Once you confirm your order we will get on with the job.
We aim to complete any framing order in 14 days, subject to stock availability.

Stage 1 – Cutting the frame to size-
Having measured up precisely to your requirements we select the chosen frame and precision cut the moulding to size. We use our old foot operated Morso mitre guilotoine for this, over 30 years old and still going strong, sharp as a razor it powers through mouldings, both soft and hard wood, leaving us with a clean mitre joint to adjoin the four sides of the frame. Exactly square corner frames are quite important, as are tight fitting corner joints
Stage 2 – Assembling the frame
Once we have cut the frame components, we start the process of assembly. We glue and underpin each corner at exactly 90 degrees. We use another trusted piece of machinery for this our underpinner, with the help on some compressed air. Sound corners guaranteed. We check the finished frame to make sure it is square and that we have tight corners and a smooth frame ahead of applying any colour or finish
Stage 3 – Hand painting or staining the frame to your colour choice
Each frame is hand sanded; feel is the best way of ensuring a smooth finish. Once ready we make up the chosen colour from our range of stains, water based, acrylic paints or waxes and polishes, and apply by hand to the frame. As many coats as it takes to get the desired colour, sheen or finish. We hang the frame on our drying racks allowing the frame to dry out completely before we move to the next stage.
Stage 4 – Cutting other materials
Now we cut the Mountboard (acid free of course to ensure there are no nasty side effects on your artwork), Glass, Backing Board, Spacers or any other elements we have agreed with you will form part of your finish. Again precision cut by hand and quality checked to ensure we have got what we need before we bring it all together.
Stage 5 - Fabrication
The test – does it all work. We bring together all the components for your finished piece. We hand clean the glass to make sure it is smudge and dust free both inside and out. We use wildfowl feathers to stroke away all those little dust particles from your artwork and inside the glass before we close it up, seal it using sustainable produced water resistant sealing tapes and then applying your chosen hanging furniture so that it is ready to hang when you get it back. A final quality check and then…..
Stage 6 – calling you to tell you it is ready to collect
We call you to let you know it is ready and arrange for you to come and collect it and check it to make sure it meets your expectations. Satisfaction guaranteed.
